I’ve spent more vacation time in South Padre Island than anywhere else. While I have not tried every restaurant on the island, I have tried enough to know where to send people for a great meal and where they should avoid. Are you ready to learn about the best restaurants in South Padre Island?

Breakfast Restaurant Recommendations In South Padre Island

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I understand the desire to sleep late on vacation but trust me; you want to wake up to try my two favorite breakfast spots.

Yummies Bistro

Yummies Bistro has become a beloved spot for breakfast enthusiasts on South Padre Island. I would never go to South Padre Island without having breakfast at Yummies Bistro.

Yummies Bistro Menu

Yummies Bistro offers a delightful variety of options that cater to diverse tastes, ensuring something for everyone. The menu showcases signature dishes, an enticing selection of beverages and desserts, and seasonal specials highlighting fresh ingredients. I always order the same menu items, Gulf Coast Grits and Cinnamon Coffee.

Food photography is hard. I promise it tastes MUCH better than it looks.

The Palms Cafe On the Beach

I’ve eaten at the Palms Cafe on the Beach more times than I can count. It‘s one of my favorite breakfast spots on the island, and I enjoy my experience every time.

The Palms Cafe Menu

The Palms Cafe’s menu is extensive and caters to various tastes. You can expect various options, including fresh seafood, juicy burgers, and flavorful salads.

Breakfast is particularly popular, with items like omelets and breakfast burritos served all day. My favorite dish is Migas, and at only $10, you can afford a Bloody Mary (or two). The cafe is known for its creative cocktails, which pair well with the food. Daily specials highlight local ingredients and seasonal dishes, providing a unique touch to your dining experience.

Ambiance and Location

You will appreciate the cafe’s prime beachfront location on South Padre Island, making it a favorite among visitors. The atmosphere is casual yet charming, with outdoor seating that allows you to enjoy the ocean breeze while you dine.

If you’re looking for a charming dining experience by the ocean, visiting the Palms Cafe on the Beach in South Padre Island is a must. With its beachfront location, you can enjoy delicious meals while taking in the soothing sounds of the waves.

Lunch Restaurant Recommendations In South Padre Island

Assuming you are enjoying the day at the beach, my two favorite lunch spots are perfect options. Wanna Wanna offers a fun, beachfront vibe with delicious seafood and tropical drinks, while Ceviche Ceviche specializes in fresh, flavorful ceviche bowls. Both serve up tasty, casual meals perfect for a relaxing midday break.

Wanna Wanna

Wanna Wanna Beach Bar & Grill offers a delightful coastal experience that combines a fantastic atmosphere, tasty dishes, and a vibrant bar scene. Whether you want to kick back with a signature Turbo Pina Colada or enjoy classic American fare, this spot has something for everyone.

Wanna Wanna Menu

Wanna Wanna Inn boasts a diverse menu centered around classic beach food. One standout item is the Turbo Piña Colada, a house specialty that’s both refreshing and potent. This cocktail (topped with an extra shot of dark rum) is perfect for those sunny days.

Food options include favorites like U-Peel-Um Shrimp and flavorful ceviche. The shrimp dish is particularly popular for its freshness and seasonings. My husband requires the fried shrimp basket at least once when we visit South Padre Island.

This is not a food photography blog.

Location and Accessibility in South Padre

The location of Wanna Wanna Inn offers unparalleled convenience. Situated at 5100 Gulf Blvd, it’s just steps away from the beach. You can easily transition from sunbathing to dining without any hassle.

Entertainment and Events

Entertainment is a significant part of the Wanna Wanna experience. The venue frequently hosts live music, enhancing your dining experience with local talent. Check their schedule to see what’s happening during your visit.

You can often find beach volleyball games nearby, inviting you to join the fun. The engaging atmosphere makes it a suitable spot for families and groups to enjoy a lively night out. Regular events create a sense of community that keeps guests coming back.

Ceviche Ceviche

Ceviche Ceviche is a must-visit spot if you’re looking for fresh, flavorful seafood. If you love Poke, Ceviche Ceviche will be right up your alley.

This very small, casual eatery specializes in delicious, made-to-order ceviche, a refreshing dish made with fresh fish, shrimp, and a variety of crisp vegetables marinated in lime juice. For a personalized flavor explosion, you can customize their ceviche with mango, avocado, jalapeños, and cilantro.

The portions are generous, and everything is prepared right before you for the freshest taste possible. With its laid-back atmosphere and healthy, delicious offerings, Ceviche Ceviche is perfect for a light lunch or a quick bite before returning to the beach.

Be aware that seating is very limited.  Plan to take your ceviche to-go.
